The Express Entry (EE) organizes and processes applications for people who wish to immigrate to Canada and acquire Canadian permanent residence. Express Entry is not an immigration by itself, rather it’s an online system that manages applications sent to the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) department. The system manages three Canadian immigration programs:
- Federal Skilled Workers (FSW)
- Federal Skilled Trades (FST)
- Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
Candidate profiles under the Canadian Express Entry system are ranked against each other according to a point-based system called the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). The candidates with the highest ranking scores in the Express Entry draw will be considered for an Invitation to Apply for Permanent Residence.
These invitations are issued by the federal government on a regular basis.
THE LATEST EXPRESS ENTRY DRAW 255- JULY 06, 2023
The IRCC issued 1500 invitations to applicants in the Express Entry draw 255. Applicants having a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System Score (CRS) of 463 received an Invitation to Apply (ITA). This Express Entry Draw was a category-specific draw in healthcare occupations. According to the tie-breaking rule, candidates who created their profile before November 12, 2022, 12:47:27 UTC Saturday, were prioritized.
Today’s draw has the Lowest CRS Score of the year, and the second category-based draw in the healthcare occupations after the first one was held on June 28 last week which invited 500 applicants and had a minimum CRS Score of 476. When compared to the last draw held yesterday, which was the first-ever category-specific draw in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) occupations, the CRS Score for today’s draw decreased by 26 points.
The draw held today was the 19th for Express Entry in 2023 and the third of July. This is the third day in a row where Express Entry Draw has been held.
Express Entry will still hold all-program draws and as of July 04, a surprise draw was held resulting in 700 applicants being issued an Invitation to Apply (ITA), with a minimum score of 511.
